The Baltimore Orioles are staying at Camden Yards. The Orioles and the state of Maryland approved a 30-year agreement to keep the team at Oriole Park, the club announced Monday.

“When we began conversations with the state on a bigger vision for the ballpark and the greater plan for Baltimore,” Orioles chief operating officer Greg Bader said in a statement. “We had the shared goal of reaching an end result that would benefit both the city and state. I’m proud to say we accomplished that mission.”

On Sept. 28, the night the Orioles clinched the American League East division with a 2-0 win over the Boston Red Sox, the team announced it agreed to a 30-year lease extension with the state of Maryland and Maryland Stadium Authority to keep playing at Camden Yards. The parties clarified the following day they reached a memorandum of understanding around a framework for a lease extension with the intention to have a deal signed by Dec. 31.

The framework agreement followed lengthy negotiations surrounding the lease, which was previously set to expire at the end of the year. The team announced in January it would not be exercising a one-time, five-year option to extend the deal through 2028, but expressed certainty a new agreement would be reached before the deadline.

“The Orioles are a valued part of the Baltimore community, and we are grateful to continue this partnership with a deal that follows the broad shared goals of the memorandum of understanding from earlier this year,” Maryland Gov. Wes Moore said. “This agreement will not only benefit the world-class fan experience at Camden Yards, but the entire city as well, and we are thrilled knowing that Maryland will continue to see playoff baseball in Baltimore for years to come.”

Baltimore began playing at Camden Yards in 1992. Since then, the team made the playoffs six times. In 2023, the Orioles went 101-61, giving the organization its first 100-win season since 1980. It was Baltimore’s first postseason berth since 2016.

“I’m happy we can deliver on our promise to fans of keeping the Orioles here for 30 more years, marking the 100th season of the team in Baltimore,” Orioles chair and managing partner John Angelos said.
